Message about US Tariffs

US customers,

23 August Update

Following recent White House announcements, as of 29 August, 2025, the de minimis threshold is being suspended. The de minimis rules have allowed US citizens to import goods from overseas valued at under USD$800 to enter the United States duty-free. This exemption is now ending as of 29 August, 2025.

The US Customs & Border Protection have declared that duties and taxes on goods must be collected prior to entering the US, which means we here at The Seventh Lion are required to pay duties to the US CBP on the customer's (that's you!) behalf. To ensure a smooth delivery, import duties will be charged to the customer at checkout and will appear on your invoice as an extra line-item.

17 June Update

We're currently experiencing some trouble with the turbulent tariff laws and customs duties our US customers are required to pay and in some cases, our US customers have been double charged for import tax.

To avoid this, we are removing import duties at checkout. We will be updating all product pages to include Country of Origin so you are aware which of our products will incur a tax expense on import into the United States. You will be contacted by your country's border security to pay import tax on your parcel before your items are released for delivery to you.

If you have any questions, please contact us at: info@theseventhlion.com

16 May Update

Many of our products previously taken offline are now back online for our US customers. However, at this time, US customers will be required to pay tariffs on our Asian-made products. These include our enamel pins and leather bag charms. These import duties will be added as an extra line-item at checkout, when calculating shipping fees.

As of 14 May, 2025, the combined US tariff rate on goods manufactured in China, Hong Kong and Macau entering into the US will be cut from 145% to 30%. In a joint statement released by the US and China Governments, it has been advised that the 30% tariff rate will apply for a 90-day period from 14 May 2025.

Please allow for extra delivery time as it is expected there may be delays during customs and clearance processing for items sent to the US.

Original Post:

As a result of the sweeping tariffs that the US President has put into place recently, we've had to remove some of our listings to avoid confusion, until more information is available. The tariffs affect some of our items that were produced in China and/or Hong Kong and delivered to us here in Australia. As we don't believe in charging our customers an additional 145% of the original cost price, we have decided to make them unavailable to customers in the US until further clarification from authoritative bodies.

The remaining items at The Seventh Lion are all produced locally here in Australia, and as yet, the de minimis threshold (whereby packages valued at or under USD$800 are eligible for free trade) is still in place for items produced in Australia. There will be no change to how we ship these products.

You can now comfortably shop at The Seventh Lion without worrying about having to pay extra tariffs on delivery.

This page will be updated as further information is provided.
